Easier
by Glen Phillips
Tab by Robin Rae
The tab below is based on Glen's solo
acoustic version (at
least the one I've heard) and is at at
Capo II. It doesn't
have all the exact string notations, but
sounds pretty
close.
The demo version is at Capo III and has a few more
fills in it at various places, but the
basic chords are the
same.
In the first verse, the original lyrics are shown first
with the new demo lyrics below in
parenthesis.
At *, transition from D to F#m by
playing (relative to
capo):
E ---------
B ---------
G ---------
D -------0-
A -0-2-4---
E ---------
Also, the D-D/C#-Bm progression is a
walking bass line that
sounds really cool with the melody.

I was eighteen, so were you
(I am the son of a soap opera

tree climbing angel from heaven who finally came down

and still notice the way that you walk
D D/C# Bm E
and if you said you were going away
Bm
I'd run on the tarmac
A E Bm
and I would lay down in front of the
plane
D D/C#
just to get you to stay
Bm D D/C#
'cause it couldn't be better, I know
Bm D D/C#
and it shouldn't be easier, oh
Bm F#m E D*
should just stop waiting for the other
boot to fall
F#m E D
waiting for the other boot to fall

Got everything I've ever wanted here

everything and damn this constant fear
sure we're gonna lose it all
Bm F#m E D* F#m E D
just waiting for the other boot to fall

and if you thought I could be replaced
