Easier
 by Glen Phillips

 Tab by Robin Rae

The tab below is based on Glen's solo acoustic version (at
least the one I've heard) and is at at Capo II.  It doesn't
have all the exact string notations, but sounds pretty
close.  The demo version is at Capo III and has a few more
fills in it at various places, but the basic chords are the
same.  In the first verse, the original lyrics are shown first
with the new demo lyrics below in parenthesis.

At *, transition from D to F#m by playing (relative to
 capo):

 E ---------
 B ---------
 G ---------
 D -------0-
 A -0-2-4---
 E ---------

Also, the D-D/C#-Bm progression is a walking bass line that
sounds really cool with the melody.

 F#m  E  D*   F#m  E  D

           F#m       E             D
I was eighteen, so were you
(I am the son of a  soap opera    town)

             F#m         E            D
I was that birkenstock geek rock    dude
(Mayberry   rebel, a    middle class clown)

                   F#m       E
And you were the backflip, doe eyed,
(And you were the backflip, doe eyed,)

 D                         F#m        E            D
tree climbing earth mama, beautiful  evergreen    girl
tree climbing angel from  heaven who finally came down

      D D/C#  Bm                   E
and I never thought that I could be
(and I never thought that I could be)

             Bm                        A
getting my gray hair with you beside me
(getting my gray hair with you beside me)

           E             Bm
  and the  white picket  fence
(and it's something I'm blind to)

                D   D/C#
  but don't bug me
 (but you still see)

        Bm                    D   D/C#
but it couldn't be better, I know

        Bm                    D   D/C#
and it shouldn't be easier, oh

                  Bm                            F#m E D*
should just stop waiting for the other boot to fall

                  F#m         E      D
I want to be the toy in your cereal box

              F#m       E          D
I want to be Carter at your peace talks

               F#m    E     D
I want to get almost too familiar

           F#m        E            D
and still notice the way that you walk

     D      D/C# Bm             E
and if you said you were going away

                Bm
 I'd run on the tarmac

             A           E            Bm
and I would lay down in front of the plane

                    D  D/C#
just to get you to stay

           Bm                    D   D/C#
'cause it couldn't be better, I know

        Bm                    D   D/C#
and it shouldn't be easier, oh

                  Bm                            F#m E D*
should just stop waiting for the other boot to fall

                               F#m E D
waiting for the other boot to fall

 A                                 E
Got everything I've ever wanted here

                                   D
everything and damn this constant fear

sure we're gonna lose it all

      Bm                            F#m E D* F#m E D
just waiting for the other boot to fall

     D      D/C#    Bm           E
and if you thought I could be replaced

                 Bm
I wouldn't just stop with an ear

         A          E             Bm
I would cut off my whole fucking face

                       D   D/C#
just to make my point clear

         Bm                    D   D/C#
that it couldn't be better, I know

        Bm                     D   D/C#
and it shouldn't be easier, oh

                  Bm                            F#m E D*
should just stop waiting for the other boot to fall

                               F#m E D
waiting for the other boot to fall

                   F#m E D
 the other boot to fall

                   F#m E D
 the other boot to fall
